Notes

Shape similar to spruce, with unique appearance with graceful pendulous branches, and has a drooping leader.  Grows relatively fast when young - 2’ per year. Much more tolerant of drought than spruce, comparable to Ponderosa Pine, native to Afghanistan. 'Sanders Blue' is among one of the hardiest Deodara cedars, along with ’Shalimar’, ‘Karl Fuchs’, ‘Eisregen’, ‘Kashmir’. Survived without winter injury past three winters, therefore can be recommended. Should be used as a substitute or Colorado Blue Spruce. Flammable. Excellent heat resistance, fast growth rate. Available in speciality nurseries.
