OXA is a volunteer-powered community passionate about helping Okanagan gardeners create beautiful, water-wise landscapes. Through education, demonstration gardens, and community events, we inspire people to garden in ways that conserve water and work in harmony with our local environment.
We’re so grateful for the energy, creativity, and care our volunteers bring to everything we do. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just curious to learn, there’s a place for you here.
Come be part of it—help maintain our demonstration gardens, get ready for plant sales, lend a hand at events, support outreach and social media, or even join our Board of Directors. However you choose to get involved, you’ll be making a meaningful difference while connecting with a great group of people.

OXA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
DIG WITH SIG
Join us in the garden for Dig with Sig, our popular weekly drop-in where you can spend time learning and working alongside Sigrie Kendrick, OXA’s Executive Director and Master Gardener. It’s a relaxed, hands-on way to deepen your knowledge of drought-tolerant plants and xeriscape landscaping while enjoying time outdoors.
No experience is needed, and you don’t have to be an OXA member to take part– just bring your gloves and a trowel and come as you are. Whether you’re curious about xeriscaping or already passionate about sustainable gardening, everyone is welcome.
Volunteers play an important role in maintaining OXA’s demonstration gardens, helping to showcase beautiful, water-wise landscapes that inspire our community. From seasonal maintenance and spring clean-ups to plant propagation for our sales, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Most of all, Dig with Sig is about connection– learning together, sharing knowledge, and meeting like-minded people who care about gardening in harmony with our local ecosystem.

OXA Events
We can always use volunteer help at our OXA Events– annual Xeriscape Plant Sales, fundraisers, presentations, and workshops. Also, help with social media and fundraising is appreciated.
